CPR & AED

CPR and AED is designed specifically for laypeople and is an excellent choice for both the community and workplace setting. This extremely flexible program will help prepare people to respond to a cardiac arrest and choking. This program conforms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.

Basic First Aid

Basic First Aid was created to help students develop basic first aid knowledge, skills, and the confidence to respond. The program is an excellent choice for both the community and workplace setting, and conforms to the 2015 AHA and ARC Guidelines Update for First Aid.

CPR, AED, & First Aid COMBO

CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid combination training was created to allow Instructors an easy option for their students seeking a comprehensive training class. The program helps develop basic first aid knowledge, skills, and the confidence to respond. CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid combination training is an excellent choice for both the community and workplace setting, and is consistent with recommendations of the 2010 National First Aid Science Advisory Board and OSHA best practices for first aid training programs in the workplace.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Students learn how to recognize a life-threatening emergency, how to provide basic life support and what to do in case of an airway obstruction or choking. BLS for Healthcare Providers and Professional Rescuers has been approved for training for Emergency Medical Services personnel and is accepted by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).

Bloodborne Pathogens

American Red Cross and American Safety & Health Institute's Bloodborne Pathogens program includes information that will help students understand what bloodborne pathogens are and how risks of exposure can be reduced for themselves and others. The program assists in satisfying the training requirements of the U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030).

Any individual or employee who has a reasonable anticipation of contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials as a result of performing designated job duties.

 

Emergency Oxygen

Serious and life-threatening medical emergencies often cause oxygen to be depleted in the body leaving the victim at risk for shock. The ASHI Emergency Oxygen program focuses on administering emergency oxygen to breathing and non-breathing persons, emergency oxygen delivery systems, and integrating pulse oximetry.

Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid

Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid training program provides an ideal training solution for schools, child care providers, youth sports coaches, and others required to learn how to respond to medical emergencies involving children. This versatile program is based upon the 2010 CPR and First Aid Guidelines, Caring for Our Children, 3rd Ed; and other evidence-based treatment recommendations.

Individuals who desire or are required to be certified in Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid.

 

Advanced First Aid

Advanced First Aid is designed for the person who needs or desires more first aid training than Basic First Aid, but not to the level of Emergency Medical Response. Perfect for corporate emergency response teams, this 17-21 hour course presents many of the most common illnesses and injuries responders are likely to encounter.

  • Perfect For

This course is designed for non-EMS responders including government, corporate, industry, lifeguards, security personnel, law enforcement, corrections personnel, and other individuals who are not EMS or healthcare providers, but desire or require certification in Advanced First Aid.

Prerequisites

Current, valid professional-level BLS certification (CPR Pro for the Professional Rescuer). (May be incorporated/conducted in conjunction with the AFA program as needed.)

Required for Successful Completion (Certification)

Written Evaluation: Required

Skills Evaluation: Students must perform required skills competently without assistance.

Successful completion is based on achievement of the core learning objectives rather than a prescribed instruction time

  

Child and Babysitting Safety

The Child and Babysitting Safety training program is designed to focus on supervising, caring for, and keeping children and infants safe in babysitting settings. The program provides fundamental information in the business of babysitting, proper supervision, basic caregiving skills, and responding properly to ill or injured children or infants.

  • Perfect For

Young people (11 to 15 years old) who are interested in providing babysitting services.

Prerequisites

None, however CPR/AED and Basic First Aid certification strongly recommended.

Required for Successful Completion (Certification)

Written Evaluation: Required

Skills Evaluation: Students must perform required skills competently without assistance.

Successful completion is based on achievement of the core learning objectives rather than a prescribed instruction time

  

Wilderness First Aid 

Wilderness environments create special situations not usually encountered in an urban or suburban environment. With ASHI Wilderness First Aid, Instructors certified to teach CPR/AED, basic first aid, and have wilderness experience can take advantage of ASHI flexible instructional design. This comprehensive 16-20 hour course meets the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid curriculum and guidelines.

Course Includes:

Preparation and Assessment, Preventing and Caring for Injuries, Environmental Hazards, Biological Hazards, & Medical Emergencies.

Information-filled slide presentation covering wilderness first aid from a basic understanding of emergency response in an outdoor setting to specific techniques and considerations for a wide range of incident scenarios. A great tool for any Instructor who needs to cover wilderness first aid topics in any sort of emergency response training class.

AVERT (Active Violence Emergency Response Training)

AVERT brings together expertise from both the medical and law enforcement perspectives and backgrounds. Once taught only to industry professionals, the content in AVERT has been specifically adapted for the general public. Unlike other training programs that focus solely on Run, Hide, Fight techniques, AVERT uses a dynamic method to teach you proactive awareness, how to react and protect yourself and others in a violent situation, and how to respond to severe injuries that are often a result of these occurrences.

Required for Successful Completion (Certification)

(FAST)  First Aid for Severe Trauma

Uncontrolled bleeding is the leading cause of preventable death from trauma. The First Aid for Severe Trauma (FAST) program provides participants with the knowledge and skills they need to respond to an emergency involving life-threatening bleeding, including how to:

• Recognize a life-threatening bleeding emergency.

• Ensure safety and communicate effectively in an emergency.

• Control life-threatening bleeding using direct pressure, a tourniquet, or both.

The program is designed to enhance participants’ ability to take decisive, lifesaving action to assist a person with a traumatic injury and life-threatening bleeding until professional responders arrive.

Course Prerequisites There are no program prerequisites for the First Aid for Severe Trauma course.

*Bloodborne Pathogens Training $35

Designed for those who are at risk for on the job exposure to blood and other bodily fluids in the workplace. The course teaches staff how bloodborne pathogens are spread, how to avoid exposure and what to do if exposed to infectious material. This course is one of the requirements of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. After taking this course, students should talk with their employer about their workplaces specific policies and procedures. Those who complete the training receive a Bloodborne Pathogens Training certification valid for one year. The 2021 Bloodborne Pathogens online course is designed for those who are at risk for on the job exposure to blood and other bodily fluids in the workplace. The course teaches staff how bloodborne pathogens are spread, how to avoid exposure and what to do if exposed to infectious material. Allow approximately 60 minutes to complete the course.

 

*Returning to Work During COVID-19: Safe Work Practices Online $20

This online only course provides guidance to employees about actions they can take to keep themselves, their coworkers, their families and their community safe as business reopen and workers return to work. It also provides employees with insight into new or modified policies and procedures that business owners may implement to maintain a safe work environment and protect employees health during the COVID-19 outbreak. The estimated course length is 1 hour.

 

*Psychological First Aid: Supporting Yourself and Others During COVID-19  $20

The uncertainty associated with a global health crisis like COVID-19 challenges everyone's ability to cope. This course will help you to build resilience and support yourself and others through this crisis by reviewing basic principles of providing psychological first aid, including how to recognize and manage stress in yourself and in others and how to lend support to family members, friends and coworkers during and following the COVID-19 outbreak.

 

*Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine Auto-Injector - Online Course  $35

This online course will teach you the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and how to care for a person having a severe allergic reaction, including how to administer epinephrine using an auto-injector device. The course, which includes video, activities that reinforce key information and a learning assessment, will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

 

*First Aid for Severe Trauma Online $30 

First Aid for Severe Trauma (FAST) Online provides participants with the knowledge and skills they need to respond to an emergency involving life-threatening bleeding, including how to recognize a life-threatening bleeding emergency, ensure safety and communicate effectively in an emergency, control life-threatening bleeding using direct pressure, a tourniquet, or both. The course is designed to enhance participants ability to take decisive, lifesaving action to assist a person with a traumatic injury and life-threatening bleeding until professional responders arrive. This course is not a certification course and only results in a completion certificate. Please check with your state or workplace on whether this meets requirements for any high school graduation or workplace training requirements for bleeding control education. Responsive design allows for a user-friendly experience on desktop, tablets, and mobile devices. Allow approximately 2 hours to complete the course. This course does not work on Safari browsers.

 

*First Aid Online  $35

The 2021 First Aid online course equips students with the knowledge necessary to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies. To receive a valid 2 year Red Cross digital certificate that is OSHA compliant and meets other workplace and regulatory requirements, you must enroll in an Instructor-led skill session within 90 days of completing the online course.

 

*Cat and Dog First Aid Online $25

You love your pets, and want to give them the best life possible; being equipped to deliver first aid and provide a healthy lifestyle for your pet is the best way to do that. In this course, you will learn the basics of providing first aid care for your cat or dog, and will learn how to best give care for common emergency situations. This 35 minute online course covers understanding your pet's vital signs, breathing and cardiac emergencies, wounds and bleeding, seizures, and preventative care for cats and dogs. This course is desktop and tablet compatible.

 

*First Aid, Health and Safety for Coaches - Online Course  $55

This course, developed by the American Red Cross and the National Federation of State High School Associations, gives students an overview of first aid and "best practices" for many first aid situations encountered by coaches. Students learn skills related to athletic injuries that may also be useful for injuries to officials, fellow coaches or spectators. Topics include: Checking an Unconscious Athlete; Asthma; Sudden Illness; Heat Related Illnesses; Wounds; Injuries to the Head, Neck and Spine; Psychological and Mental Health Problems. Students who score at least 80% on the course assessment may print a record of completion. Because CPR and AED require separate training for certification, these topics are not part of this course. Students are encouraged to register for the American Red Cross CPR/AED course as a complement to this course.

 

 

*Babysitting Basics-online  $45

Designed primarily for youth ages 11 and older, this online course will prepare students to be better babysitters. Topics include how to provide care for infants and children; how to stay safe; what to do in an emergency; how to choose age-appropriate activities; and how to recognize and handle a variety of behaviors. Students will also learn the basics of starting a babysitting business. The course consists of six interactive modules featuring video, activities, games and tools babysitters can use to build their knowledge and skills and manage their babysitting business. This course, which includes a final exam at the end, takes about 4 hours to complete. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a printable certificate.

 

*Lifeguard Management - Online Course  $120

The Lifeguard Management course is designed to prepare aquatic professionals to effectively manage lifeguards and help keep patrons, staff and facilities safe. This highly interactive, 3.5-hour course is completely online and includes video lessons, scenario-based activities and a final exam. There are no prerequisites for this course. The person may or may not have a lifeguarding background, and may manage seasonal or year-round operations. Successful participants receive a certificate that is valid for2years.

 

*Water Safety for Parents and Caregivers - FREE

The Water Safety for Parents and Caregivers Online Course focuses on developing an awareness of the risks of drowning and how to minimize those risks, especially for young children. This online course teaches parents and caregivers about the concepts of the circle of drowning prevention, water competency and the chain of drowning survival. It also provides guidance for applying water safety to common environments and situations where children are most at risk for drowning.

 

*Adult CPR/AED Online  $35

The 2021 Adult CPR/AED online course equips students with the knowledge necessary to recognize and care for a variety of breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults. To receive a valid 2 year Red Cross digital certificate that is OSHA compliant and meets other workplace and regulatory requirements, you must enroll in an Instructor-led skill session within 90 days of completing the online course.

 

*Adult First Aid/CPR/AED Online  $35

Safety Training for Swim Coaches online content course is the first step for coaches to become certified in Safety Training for Swim Coaches. This course teaches those involved in competitive swimming how to help maintain a comfortable and safe environment for swimmers, prevent accidents and emergencies and respond to swimmers with illnesses or injuries in water or on land.
